About this role

Not a walking job. We are recruiting three self-employed pet sitters in Coventry who can look after a dog at the owner's house while the owner is away: perhaps a visit morning and evening, perhaps a run of nights, perhaps both across a fortnight's holiday.

A good sitter keeps to the owner's routine without fuss. That means the right food at the right time, any medication, regular toilet breaks, a proper walk and some company. Then you write to the owner every day, ideally with a photo.

Owners book and pay through WoofWalk, but we do not employ anyone, and nobody receives a wage from us. Bookings are not guaranteed either. Set your own price for a visit and for a night, choose which requests to accept, and the payment is paid out to your bank. Looking after your own tax, National Insurance and insurance is part of being self-employed.

Public sitter listings around Coventry put home visits anywhere from about £6 up to £15, and a night of home boarding at about £33. These are other people's prices.

Want dogs to stay at your own place? That is home boarding. The council has to licence you before you start, and the app gives it a listing of its own. Sitting in the owner's home does not.

On costs

joining is free, with no commission for 14 days. After that comes 15% of each booking, dropping to 10% for life once five of your own clients join through you. The 10% rate also applies from the beginning to anyone you bring yourself.

Over 18 only, please. On Find a Job, tell us which parts of Coventry you can reach and whether you can do overnights.
