About this role
Turn everyday adventures into something extraordinary.
Morden Park Forest School, part of The Butterfly Patch, is looking for a Forest School Leader who loves helping young children discover the world outdoors.
We combine a welcoming indoor nursery base with twice-daily outings into the beautiful 198-acre Morden Park. From noticing the changing seasons to building dens and following a child's curiosity, nature is part of our everyday life.
You will lead engaging, child-led Forest School experiences that help children develop confidence, independence, resilience and a love of the natural world. You will plan a varied programme, adapt activities to children's interests and abilities, and help colleagues bring outdoor learning to life.
Your role will include
- Leading safe, inspiring Forest School sessions and supporting children to assess and manage appropriate risks.
- Carrying out site checks and risk-benefit assessments, maintaining equipment and preparing for changing weather.
- Supporting children's learning through exploration, nature play and practical outdoor skills.
- Working as part of our nursery team, including indoor provision, everyday care and key-person responsibilities.
- Building warm relationships with families and sharing children's progress.
- Supporting safeguarding, inclusion and children's wellbeing throughout the day.
We are a privately owned nursery group where staff can share ideas, develop their skills and make a difference to children's experiences. We keep the focus on knowing our children and providing thoughtful, engaging care and education.
Salary
£32,000–£38,000 per year, depending on skills, qualifications and experience, based on full-time hours. Part-time arrangements may be considered, with salary pro rata.
If muddy boots, curious questions and outdoor adventures sound like your kind of working day, we would love to hear from you.
The Butterfly Patch is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Appointment is subject to satisfactory references, an enhanced DBS check and appropriate pre-employment checks.
