About this role
Ambitious Compliance Officer wanted to drive real impact in Financial Services from Birmingham.
Regulation in Financial Services doesn't stand still, and firms that get compliance right win client trust before a single sales pitch happens. This growing SME, based in Birmingham, is looking for a Compliance Officer to help keep its regulatory framework sharp as the business scales. It's a role with genuine weight behind it, not a box-ticking exercise.
Here's what you'll be doing
Monitor regulatory changes affecting the firm's Financial Services activities and translate them into practical policy updates
Conduct compliance monitoring reviews across business functions and report findings to senior management
Support the business through FCA-related reporting requirements and internal audits
Maintain and refine the compliance monitoring programme, flagging gaps before they become problems
Deliver training sessions that actually stick, helping staff understand their regulatory obligations
Investigate incidents, complaints and breaches, then write up clear, defensible reports
Here are the skills you'll need
A few years' experience in a compliance role within Financial Services or a closely related regulated sector
Solid working knowledge of FCA rules and how they apply day to day, not just in theory
Sharp attention to detail. Compliance work punishes sloppiness
Confidence to challenge senior stakeholders when something isn't right
Strong written communication, since much of this job lives in reports and policy documents
A relevant qualification (ICA or similar) is useful, though not always essential if experience speaks for itself
Key perks and benefits
Salary of £40,500 to £52,000, depending on experience
Hybrid working, striking a proper balance between office time in Birmingham and working from home
Private medical insurance and pension contribution
Bonus scheme on top of base salary
Generous annual leave and flexible working arrangements
Why pursue a career in Financial Services?
Financial Services rewards people who take regulation seriously, and demand for good Compliance Officer talent keeps climbing as rules get more complex. Birmingham has become a genuine hub for the sector outside London, with firms investing heavily in local compliance teams. Progression here tends to be quick for people who show judgement, not just process knowledge.
This Compliance Officer opportunity in Birmingham is brought to you by The Opportunity Hub UK.
