Consultant - General Adult Psychiatry - Inpatients - Male

Please see attached job description and person specification Provide consultant psychiatrist leadership for one acute working-age inpatient ward at Tameside. Undertake comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, risk assessment and formulation for patients admitted to the ward. Lead treatment planning and review, including pharmacological, psychological, social and legal aspects of care, using a bio-psycho-social approach. Act as Responsible Clinician where appropriate and fulfil duties under the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act. Lead and participate in ward rounds, multidisciplinary reviews, Mental Health Act work, urgent assessments and discharge planning. Work collaboratively with the ward MDT, crisis/home treatment, liaison psychiatry, CMHTs, primary care and relevant partner agencies to support safe admission avoidance, inpatient care and discharge pathways. Provide timely clinical advice to colleagues and contribute to the safe and effective functioning of the inpatient service. Contribute to service evaluation, audit, quality improvement and accreditation activity in line with local and Trust priorities.
