About this role
Step into this Head of Corporate Communications role and build something that matters in PR & Communications.
Cardiff's tech and startup scene has grown fast, and the businesses inside it need people who can tell their story properly, not just push out press releases. This is a startup with a flat structure and an entrepreneurial streak, the kind of place where PR & Communications isn't a support function bolted on at the end. It sits at the centre of how the company grows.
Here's what you'll be doing
Shape and deliver the corporate communications strategy across press, internal messaging and stakeholder relations
Write and place stories with journalists and trade media covering the sector
Build relationships with key press contacts and industry commentators in and around Cardiff
Manage messaging during periods of change, from funding announcements to product launches
Brief senior leaders ahead of interviews, panels and public appearances
Track coverage and sentiment, then adjust the approach when something isn't landing
Here are the skills you'll need
Solid experience in PR & Communications, ideally with some exposure to a startup or fast-growing business
Strong writing skills. You need to make a technical or complex story readable
Confidence dealing with journalists, investors and internal teams in the same week
Comfortable working without a big team behind you. You'll wear more than one hat here
Good judgement under pressure, particularly when a story moves faster than planned
Some grounding in media relations tools and basic analytics to measure what's working
Key perks and benefits
Salary of £33,500 to £50,000, depending on experience
Hybrid working, based in Cardiff with flexibility on where you work day to day
Equity in the business, not just a salary
Flexible hours built around how you actually work best
A genuine learning and development budget to keep building your skills
Why pursue a career in PR & Communications?
Good communicators are harder to find than most companies expect, which means the ones who can do it well move quickly through their careers. Cardiff has quietly become a decent base for this kind of work, with enough startups and scale-ups nearby to keep things interesting. Do the job well here and you're not just writing press releases. You're shaping how a company is understood, which is a different kind of skill entirely.
