About this role

Charnwood Borough Council in Leicestershire is an ambitious and dynamic organisation with a strong focus on supporting communities, looking after the environment, and creating a thriving economy, with a population of 184,000 located between the three cities of Leicester, Nottingham and Derby. The main urban centre is the thriving university town of Loughborough and this is complemented by small towns and villages set within attractive countryside including the National Forest. There is a challenging agenda for growth in Charnwood and this role will make a valuable contribution towards securing essential contributions that will support the delivery of community facilities and infrastructure on which this ambition depends.

The Opportunity

Sitting within the wider Plans and Environment Group, this post presents an opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to lead a small team involved in developing planning policies at a local and strategic level and to lead the local plan for the Council under the new Planning System.

This is an opportunity to apply your excellent leadership skills and talent and to make an immediate contribution to improving the quality of places in Charnwood and the lives of residents in our communities. We will offer you varied and plentiful experience in a busy planning office, liaising with a variety of stakeholders to effectively achieve Charnwood’s aims of supporting sustainable growth.
