About this role
An exceptional opportunity for a mid-level Senior Account Director to shape the future of PR & Communications in Newcastle.
The PR & Communications sector has changed shape fast over the last few years. Clients want counsel that understands paid, earned and owned in one breath, not three separate conversations. This particular agency is a startup built on that premise: small enough that every account director shapes the work directly, ambitious enough to be winning briefs that used to go to bigger names. Based in Newcastle, the team is growing and looking for someone who can run accounts without being told twice.
Here's what you'll be doing
Lead a portfolio of client accounts from strategy through to delivery, acting as the senior point of contact clients trust
Build and pitch integrated PR & Communications campaigns that combine media relations, content and digital thinking
Manage and mentor junior account handlers, reviewing their work and helping them develop
Spot growth opportunities within existing accounts and help convert them into new scopes of work
Write and sign off press materials, briefing documents and client reports to a high standard
Represent the agency at industry events and client meetings across the North East and beyond
Here are the skills you'll need
Solid agency or in-house experience in PR & Communications, ideally with some account leadership already under your belt
Confident client handler. You'll need to hold a room, not just attend the meeting
Sharp writing skills across press releases, pitches and strategic documents
Comfortable working across multiple sectors and switching gears between them in the same afternoon
Some line management experience, or a clear appetite to start managing people properly
Genuinely organised. Startups move quickly and nobody is chasing you for deadlines twice
Key perks and benefits
£47,500 to £61,500 depending on experience
Hybrid working, with flexibility to arrange your week around the job rather than the other way round
Equity in the business, so the upside is genuinely shared
A proper learning and development budget, not a token gesture
Flat structure. You'll have direct access to leadership, not three layers of sign-off
Why pursue a career in PR & Communications?
PR & Communications rewards people who can think on their feet and write well under pressure, and demand for that combination keeps rising as clients fold digital and reputation management into one brief. Newcastle has quietly become one of the stronger regional hubs for this kind of work, with agencies here competing for national accounts rather than settling for local scraps. A Senior Account Director role at the right agency opens doors fast, because the client exposure and pitch experience you get is hard to replicate elsewhere.
This Senior Account Director opportunity in Newcastle is brought to you by The Opportunity Hub UK.
