About this role
The post holder will work as an autonomous Band 7 Practitioner within the Adult ADHD Service, providing specialist assessment, formulation, and support for adults referred with suspected ADHD. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, they will contribute a nursing, psychological, or allied health professional perspective to the assessment and diagnostic process, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care. The role involves undertaking approximately 6-7 new ADHD assessments and 4-5 follow-up appointments per week, managing a designated caseload, completing comprehensive assessment reports, and maintaining accurate clinical records. The post holder will provide psychoeducation, advice, and support to service users, families, carers, and healthcare professionals, while contributing to diagnostic decision-making and care planning. Working collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, GPs, and external agencies, the practitioner will ensure timely access to assessment and support, helping the service achieve performance targets and reduce waiting times. They will identify and manage risk, contribute to safeguarding processes, and support individuals with complex mental health, neurodevelopmental, and social needs. In addition, the post holder will provide supervision and guidance to junior colleagues, participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives, and maintain their own continuing professional development. The role offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialist expertise within a growing and innovative Adult ADHD Service committed to improving outcomes for adults with ADHD.
